This is a draft for a product that is not yet for sale. It describes how FnScribe is designed to behave, and what this website does. It will be replaced with a final notice before anyone can download or pay.
This website
These pages are static files. They do not set cookies, do not run analytics, and do not ask you to create an account. The demos run in your browser. Nothing you type into them — a word list, a practice sentence, a hotkey — is sent to a server. Don’t put a real API key into the page. The key field in the demo doesn’t accept one.
The app, as designed
FnScribe is a Mac app for Apple Silicon. The working build is developed under the name WhisperAI. There is no FnScribe account for local dictation.
- Local speech recognition uses whisper.cpp on the Mac. Audio from that path is not uploaded. It is processed to produce text at the cursor, then discarded.
- Cloud speech recognition is off unless you turn it on. If you do, audio for that dictation is sent to OpenRouter, Groq, or OpenAI using an API key you supply. That request goes to the provider, not to a FnScribe account in the middle.
- AI cleanup is optional and separate. If you turn it on, the text — not the audio — can be sent to a model on your key. If you leave “skip when already clean” on, a sentence that doesn’t need a pass is not sent.
- History is the last ten dictations, stored on the Mac. It is not a cloud transcript.
- Export writes settings such as the hotkey, word list, and toggles. It does not include the API key.
What we can’t recover
There is no password to reset, because local use doesn’t create an account. If you lose an API key, the provider that issued it is the place to replace it. We don’t keep a copy.

A contact address will be published before the app is offered for sale. Until then, this draft is the notice.
